One of the most incredible books that I read in my short life was "The house of the Spirits" by an amazing Chilean writer, who got the National Prize for Literature of her country in 2010: Isabel Allende. The name of book is due to the storie about the protagonist, Trueba's family, turn around the life, dead, ghost, love and the wonderful.
Something deeply curious about my experience with this book was that I never read it in the school, but I must have read for my languaje class "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel García Márquez, and this book has the same plot than Isabel's book, both belong to "magic realism" and the plot used has a direct foundation with a specific moment of the history, with our reality.
I was read this book thanks to mi ex-boyfriend, who gifts me this present in my birthday two years ago, and I loved this book so much that I finished to read in less than one month (obviously reading this only in the night, the rest of the day I was read other things for the University u-u). Besides, my ex-boyfriend was gave me this because I was read other books of Isabel, like the "Trilogy of the Eagle and the Jaguar", "Paula" and "Maya's Notebook".
I like this book because the plot is so nice and represent very well the storie of ours country, and this edition not only has the storie, otherwise has an activities and questionnary about this story and the characters.

I haven´t read this book but I read "The Japanese lover" by the same author
